Copper and copper alloy tube is in demand for use in pneumatic controls, thermostatic controls, bourdon tube for pressure gauges, temperature limit switches, solenoid valves as well as reversing valves for heat pumps.
Precision copper alloy bourdon tube is used for manufacturing pressure gauges and pressure controls. Named for the physical operating principal to which it is applied, bourdon tube becomes the primary sensing element in mechanical pressure gauges. Critical parameters include consistent dimensional stability, temper consistency, and cleanliness to provide the optimum gauge calibration and performance.

Copper and copper alloys are in high demand for electrical applications due to the metal’s high conductivity characteristics. Requirements occur in electrical power generation, transmission and distribution. Applications include hollow copper conductor for electrical generator stator coils, transformer induction coils and coolant tube for electrical generators. Seamless tube is available in custom-shaped geometries such as square OD/round ID; square OD/square ID; and rectangle OD/ID for maximizing electrical current density and conductor cooling pathways. Other electrical conductor tube applications include compression lugs, splices and electrical connectors used for terminating wire cable to bus conductors or grounding applications.

Applications such as shell & tube heat exchangers and concentric oil coolers are used to cool fluids on reciprocating engine applications. Fluids typically cooled include engine oil, brake fluids and transmission or torque converter fluids. Demand is created by a variety of engine driven applications such as off-road machinery (excavators, bulldozers, haulers, etc.), electric power generation systems, on-highway vehicles, locomotives, marine (ships), petroleum and agricultural applications.

Tube applications in the welding industry include contact tips for MIG welding (GMAW), handles for gas torches, and a variety of other components including welding nozzles, wire guides, ground lugs, and connectors. Contact tip tube is a high quality seamless copper tube drawn over a precision floating plug to assure tight tolerance ID sizing for optimal electrical-current-transfer (contact) between gun tip and weld wire. Torch handle tube is made from brass material which is precision drawn through custom shaped tooling. This tooling produces an OD surface “fluting” with an ergonomic overall shape to provide a non-slip handle grip which reduces operator fatigue. Other tube geometries (duplex and triplex walled tubing) are available for unique applications.
